Who We Are

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”13px”][vc_column_text]The Bike Kitchen is a non-profit social enterprise created to teach basic bike mechanics and bike repair in a welcoming safe space and provide safe, affordable transportation to the community. Got a problem with your bike? Come in and use our tools to fix your own bike with the instruction of one of our mechanics. Our volunteers learn mechanics by repairing and refurbishing donated bicycles to go back into the community. High school volunteers earn their required ‘volunteer hours’.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][vc_column_text]

What We Do

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”13px”][vc_column_text]SIGN UP FOR A VOLUNTEER OR D.I.Y. TIME SLOT HERE

  • We provide use of tools and work stations and offer advice and mentorship for learning to repair your own bike during DIY (Do-It-Yourself) time. This is included in a $40 annual Bike Kitchen membership, or $10/hour if you are not a member. Sign up for a DIY slot here!
  • We provide cycle safety education for school groups, community groups, and individuals
  • We facilitate bike repair education through structured classes and weekly shop hours.

REPAIRS

  • Our mechanics offer a full selection of in-house repairs and service if you prefer not to do them yourself. Give us a call at 226-216-5200 for more information.

SALES

  • We strive to have a great selection of refurbished bikes available for sale in the Bike Kitchen. These have been completely tuned up and are in safe, working condition. Prices generally range between $100-$500 for an adult bike and $25-$60 for a kids bike. Shop refurbished bikes here
  • In 2020 we became an official dealer of Marin bikes to further meet our community’s cycling needs. Marin makes a great selection of bikes to suit all riders and terrains, and we are excited to share these with the community! Shop our available Marin bikes here
  • We also sell a selection of new and used parts and accessories, home goods, and more
  • We are a non-profit organization. Proceeds from all of our sales go towards our advocacy work and keeping the Bike Kitchen running!

DONATIONS

  • We accept donated bikes and bike parts of all shapes and sizes
  • Donated bicycles are refurbished by our staff, students, and volunteers to get them back into working order and then sold in our shop at affordable prices
  • Donations can be dropped off at 628 Monmouth Road anytime during our open hours.

We also provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for youth and adults. Learn more here!

WHAT WE DO NOT DO

  • Purchase used bikes
  • Trade bikes or parts
  • Lend tools off-site
  • Sell unsafe bikes

The Bike Kitchen gratefully accepts donations of bicycles for refurbishing and eventual return to the community.
