Volunteer Opportunities

We get to work with youth and have a positive impact on the neighbourhood. That’s pretty awesome.

Whether you want to learn mechanic skills, cycling skills or help advocate for safer streets, we offer a variety of volunteer support opportunities:
Bike Shop Operations – learn new skills and work with our bike mechanics, help with sales and inventory, greet people when they come in and introduce them to what we do, help ensure benches are cleaned, tools organized
Cycling Instructors – Sign up for one of our Cycle Smart cycling classes and become a local ride leader or cycling instructor, assist at one of our childrens’ bike rodeos
Communications – use your graphic design and photography skills to visualize information; write reports, local cycling stories, cycling news updates, newsletter content, data analysis; help us grow our following on social media
Grant Writing and Fundraising – identify funding sources and draft grants, build partnerships, organize a fundraisers, execute a fundraising strategy
Community Engagement – participate in a bike valet or festival, provide outreach to high schools, the College and University, community organizations, clubs, and other non-profits

Past volunteer opportunities have included:

- Helping run our free bike parking valets at special events like Art-in-the-Park, CornFest and others,
- Hanging out at events like Earth Day, Open Streets, the Downtown Farmers Market with other cycling advocates where we chat with cyclists about safety and rules of the road and give away bike maps and other cycling related information,
- Helping out with our website, data management, membership management, and
- Wrenching and helping out at the Bike Kitchen, learning new skills and assisting with day-to-day tasks
